Pre-WW1 watercolor aircraft

Breguet Biplane 1910 Military Type

Charles Hubbell (1899 – 1971) was born in Cleveland Ohio USA. As a boy of 10 he became interested in aviation when a friend gave him an aeronautical magazine. Before he completed high school, he had designed and built many models as well as a man-sized glider. He graduated from the Cleveland School of Art in 1923. He traded his early paintings for flight time, soloing in 1925.

Here are presented fourteen of forty watercolors of historic pre-WW1 and early WW1 aircraft by Charles Hubbell. They were exhibited during his one-man show at the Smithsonian in 1960 and at the EAA Museum in Oshkosh in 1987.

We believe they are some of his favorites as they were kept by him, then later sold by his estate.

Pere Ubu is a experimental rock band also from Cleveland Ohio USA. Dub Housing (1978) is an album I really enjoy.
