« I grew up in California in the early 60s, at the height of the space race – the best era in comics and toys.

Science-fiction shows and spy movies were everywhere.

I always have been fascinated by super heroes, cowboys, ufos, mythology, space, horror and science-fiction.

I have been drawing ever since I could hold a crayon and spent countless hours creating scenes of the imagination. I am constantly driven to expand and experiment with new styles and medias.»

Modern space art

Chesley Bonestell (1888 – 1986) was an American painter, designer and illustrator. His paintings were a major influence on science fiction art and illustration. He helped inspire the American space program. Author of photo-realistic images of distant worlds and spacecraft, Chesley Bonestell was dubbed the "Father of Modern Space Art".

In 1932 Chesley Bonestell went to work for Joseph Strauss, chief engineer of the Golden Gate Bridge. He made perspective drawings of the inner-workings of the bridge and made number of contributions to the final appearance of the structure.

In the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Tapestry, a young Captain Picard is involved in a fight with aliens at the Bonestell Recreation Facility, a spaceport named after the artist.

 Beverages

The Bonestell Recreation Facility is a gaming and food establishment located near Federation Starbase Earhart in the 24th century. The facility features various beverages and other services, including games such as dom-jot. It attracts a wide range of clientele.

 Dom-jot

I often watched Star Trek but not The Next Generation and the Bonestell Recreation Facility was unknown to me. On the web, all the pictures I saw were full of vapor. Did the Bonestell Recreation Facility's consumers smoke cigarettes?

Once in the Star Trek universe

The Gorn, or Gornarian Archosaur (Homo lacertae), is a sentient reptilian humanoid species native to the planet Gornar.

Arena is an episode of Star Trek: The Original Series. It is a first season episode, broadcasted January 19, 1967. It was written by Gene L. Coon, based on a short story of the same name by Fredric Brown. The episode introduces the Gorn.

He fights against Captain Kirk. And the barehanded duel is often seen as the worst (or best, a different point of view) fight scene ever.

The episode was filmed in part on location at the Vasquez Rocks (natural area park located in the Sierra Pelona Mountains, in northern California, USA), which was subsequently used as a shooting location in other Star Trek episodes and films.

The Gorn appears only once in the main Star Trek universe.

The gold embroidered tunic with zipper side closure features a matching neck sash and mauve leather gauntlets. In this memorable episode, Captain Kirk and the hulking reptilian humanoid from the Gorn species are transported to an uninhabited asteroid and are forced to fight to the death. Kirk has to use his intelligence, speed and agility to combat the seven foot tall creature with superhuman strength. Without doubt one of the most iconic aliens in the Star Trek universe. $10,000 - $12,000 (SOLD)

Fascinating Moon Pie

Sheldon Cooper is a theoretical physicist, diagnosed with Asperger syndrome. Big fan of Star Trek, he considers it analogous to religion. He possesses an eidetic memory and an IQ of 187. Sheldon is constantly worried about germs. And always wears nice colorful geeky t-shirts.

Ω

« Sheldon exhibits a strict adherence to routine, a total lack of social skills, a tenuous understanding of irony, sarcasm, and humor, and a general lack of humility or empathy.

When he was 5, a kid named Billy Sparks shoved a Mexican Peso up his nose, which has not yet been removed. (It takes Sheldon 45 minutes to get through airport security because of it.)

Sheldon was a child prodigy. He built an armed robot constructed using integrated circuits made from materials cooked in his sister's Easy Bake Oven.

He entered the University of Texas at Austin, at the age of 11.

When Sheldon was 12 years old, he wanted a titanium centrifuge to separate radioactive isotopes, but was instead given a motorized dirtbike, which he had no desire for.

He received his first PhD at 16 years old, working on twistor theory

(More about Sheldon Cooper on wikipedia.)

His grandmother, aka Meemaw, calls him Moon Pie.
